Dentro de Google Code, acabo de descubrir un post de hace un par de días en donde comentan la creación de un toolkit para desarrolladores, Google Web Toolkit (GWT), para crear aplicaciones AJAX.

Según comentan, con este toolkit, crear aplicaciones en AJAX puede resultar mucho más sencillo

With GWT, you can develop and debug AJAX applications in the Java language using the Java development tools of your choice. When you deploy your application to production, the GWT compiler translates your Java application to browser-compliant JavaScript and HTML.
